# Download Zapkube

Native builds for macOS, Linux and Windows. No account, no telemetry opt-in wall, no install script — grab a package and run it.

Builds are published as GitHub Releases on `zapkube/zapkube`. The download page resolves the latest release at request time; there is no installer script and no account step.

## macOS

_Apple Silicon & Intel_

### Disk image (`.dmg`) — recommended

Universal binary — runs native on Apple Silicon and Intel. Open it, drag Zapkube into Applications.

### Zip archive (`.zip`) — used by the built-in updater

What the built-in updater pulls in the background. Fine for scripted fleet installs, but take the .dmg if you're installing by hand.

```sh
unzip {file} -d /Applications
```

## Linux

_x86-64 & arm64_

### Debian package (`.deb`) — recommended

Debian · Ubuntu · Mint · Pop!_OS

```sh
sudo apt install ./{file}
```

### RPM package (`.rpm`)

Fedora · RHEL · CentOS · openSUSE

```sh
sudo dnf install ./{file}
```

### AppImage (`.AppImage`)

Any distro. Nothing to install — one portable binary.

```sh
chmod +x {file} && ./{file}
```

### Arch package (`.pkg.tar.zst`)

Arch Linux · Manjaro · EndeavourOS

```sh
sudo pacman -U ./{file}
```

### Tarball (`.tar.gz`) — used by the built-in updater

What the built-in updater pulls in the background. Unpacks anywhere, but prefer your distro's package above — you get menu entries and updates.

```sh
tar -xzf {file} && ./zapkube
```

## Windows

_x86-64 & arm64_

### Portable exe (`.zip`) — recommended

One standalone zapkube.exe — no installer, no admin rights. Unzip it anywhere and run it.

```powershell
Expand-Archive {file} -DestinationPath $env:LOCALAPPDATA\Zapkube
```

### Scoop Package Manager

The quickest route if you already use Scoop. Updates arrive with scoop update.

```powershell
scoop bucket add zapkube https://github.com/zapkube/scoop-bucket
scoop install zapkube/zapkube
```

https://github.com/zapkube/scoop-bucket

### Microsoft Store — not available yet

Signed MSIX package for x64 and arm64, with Store updates. In certification — the link goes here as soon as it's live.

### Installer (`installer.exe`) — unsigned

Start-menu entry and uninstaller. Not code-signed yet, so SmartScreen will block it — take the portable exe or Scoop until the Store build lands.

## Programmatic download

`GET /api/download` resolves the matching asset of the latest release and answers with JSON: `{ url, version, platform, arch, format }`. The `url` points at GitHub Releases; fetch it to get the binary. Query parameters: `platform` (`macos`, `linux`, `windows`), `arch` (`universal`, `amd64`, `arm64`), `format` (`dmg`, `zip`, `deb`, `rpm`, `appimage`, `pkg.tar.zst`, `tar.gz`, `exe`). An explicitly requested format that this release did not publish returns `404`; omitting it falls back to the platform default.

```sh
curl -s "https://zapkube.com/api/download?platform=macos&format=dmg" | jq -r .url
```
